In its initiatives to groom the young Omani talent, Hutchison Ports Sohar in coordination with the Directorate General of Education of North Al Batinah, supported the summer training programmes for the young Omani girls from across different schools in Sohar.
The summer programmes benefited about 120 school children for more than two weeks. Trainings included technology workshops and intensive coaching in English to boost their language proficiency. The courses are not just limited to academic subjects but also included fun programs like drone photography, videography, photoshop skills, art and craft and robot programming.
The main focus of these trainings is to prepare students for their higher education. Hutchison Ports Sohar also hosted an educational tour inside the container terminal for first batch of students to give them an insight of the maritime industry which would help them decide their career path.
The training ended on 10 July with an appreciation event for the participants and volunteers. This was the first year of only girl’s summer training in Sohar, but definitely not the last.
